Learn to use the NEW library catalog

Posted on July 5, 2013 by

The Juneau Public Library has joined the Joint Library Consortium, a group of libraries including Anchorage Public, the University of Alaska system, and others, to share books, movies, and other materials.  As a part of that merger our public catalog has radically changed.

The GOOD news is that most of the changes are amazing! The catalog incorporates intuitive web searching principles at it’s core.  Users can filter their search by author, date of publication, audience (children vs adults), forms (book, audiobook, dvd, etc) and scores of other factors.

The OTHER good news is that we will be having classes available for anyone who wants an in-depth tutorial.  Classes will be held on Tuesday 7/9 at 6:00 pm at the Douglas Library and Wednesday 7/10 at 6:00 pm at the Downtown library.  There is no registration.  While not necessary, if you bring a laptop or device you can get some hands on experience during the tutorial.
