Book Review Winners Week 8

Reece Bleakley, age 12, a gift certificate to Coppa and a scarf from Fairweather Gallery for her review of The House of Hades by Rick Riordan. “One fascinating part of this book is all of it!! But I guess one I remember the most is when Hazel battles Pasiphae and uses the mist to trick her.  And then after that when Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Leo, and Nico fight Clytus, that is also really good. But I loved ALL OF IT !!!! AHHH!.” 

Lena Rasmussen, age 4, a gift certificate for the Amazing Book Store for her review of First Human Body Encyclopedia edited by Penny Smith . “One fascinating part of this book is you learn what happens inside your stomach and where poop comes from.” 

Lindsay McTague, age 10, a gift certificate for Alaska Shirt Company for her review of Take me to the river by Will Hobbs. “One fascinating part of this book is how a young boy meets his cousin for the first time in Mexico. They are going to float the Rio Grande. The ride is 10 days in the burning sun.” 

Bridget McTague, age 11, a gift certificate for Trove for her review of Divergent by Veronica Roth. “One fascinating part of this book is when Tris decides to transfer from Abnegation to Dauntless. She was the first person to jump from the platform and was the bravest transfer.”

Margot Oliver, age 10, A movie ticket to Gross Alaska Theater for her review of Dork Diaries: Tales from a not so talented pop-star by Rachel Renee Russel. “One fascinating part about this book is Nikki the main character gets on the red carpet in Hollywood and a visits with Trevor Chase a famous actor.” 

Eva Sturm, age 10, a gift certificate to Nugget Alaskan Outfitter for her review of Moonrise by Erin Hunter. “The most fascinating part in this book is when the warrior meets the tribe of running water.”

Johnny Lamantia, age 6, a gift certificate for Hearthside Books for his review of Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss. “One fascinating part of the this book is when sumwun (sic someone) said it won’t come up.” 

Jack Adams, age 7, a gift certificate for Grumpy’s and a toy from Imagination Station for his review of The Animal Book by Steve Jenkins. “One fascinating part of this book is the snake that plays dead and squirts foul smelling liquid out of its butt and the frog that breaks its own bones to use as weapons.” 

Cole Mitchell, age 12, a gift certificate to Coppa and a book from The Friends of the Library for his review of Death Comes as the End by Agatha Christie. “One fascinating part of the this book is that someone died!” 

Eddy Schwarz, age 3, a hat from Brown Boots Costume Company and a gift certificate from Coppa for his review of The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot by Margaret McNamara. “One fascinating part of the this book is the aliens grow up in a crowded house. There are big and little planets. The alien with the funny name zooms through the galaxy to a planet with many moons and builds a house.”
