Pressure! Techniques for Writing Under Deadline
a workshop with Geoff Kirsch
Frantic writing under intense deadlines with career-weight implications—that’s what I do as a professional writer/stay-at-home dad. Through discussion, exercises, and possibly even an AV component, this class will focus on letting go of the stress of writing. I will also lead a crash course in the craft of writing, as well as techniques for keeping the story moving forward, always forward, even during flashbacks. This workshop is open to writers of all levels; please register in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Geoff Kirsch has written for Comedy Central, Huffington Post, and the Chicago Tribune, among others. His first book-length piece, Run For Your Life! Doomsday 2012!—30,000 words in less than six weeks—came out this past summer from Workman. Visit www.geoffkirsch.com for more.
12.3 Thank God it’s Over Party
6pm– Douglas Library
You made it, let’s celebrate, maybe share some of our work with each other. This will be a chance for writers participating in this year’s NaNoWriMo challenge to get together and celebrate having made it though November. Even if you didn’t make it to 50,000 words you deserve a celebration. Come have some pizza and share some of your work with others (optional). Please RSVP by 11/30 to email@example.com or 586-0442.
